Rug hooking technique, outdoor inspiration

Patricia Winans is a self taught fibre artist living in Riverview, New Brunswick, Canada. Patricia began her journey as an artist surrounded by an artistic family, studying art both formally and informally and progressing to become an accomplished writer, photographer, water colourist and now, fibre artist.

Some of her accomplishments include participation in many group and solo art exhibitions including three recent shows with Les Hookeuses B'or de L'o at the Moncton Capitol Theater Gallery, the Dieppe City Gallery and La Gallerie 12 at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre in Moncton, NB.

An enthusiastic “up - cycler”, Winans reconstructs her art from deconstructed fabric, salvaged metal for embellishment, yarn and thread. Using traditional rug hooking as her method, she creates art pieces that are informed by her life experiences and her years spent as a nurse, nurse educator and life traveller.
